From full-time work to full-time ministry: My journey to becoming an author — Monique Classen

As I sit down to write this article, I am filled with gratitude and awe, reflecting on the incredible journey that has led me to become an author. Just a short while ago, I was working full-time, living a comfortable life, but feeling unfulfilled and restless. It wasn’t until I felt the undeniable call of God to leave my secular job and dedicate myself to full-time ministry that my true purpose began to unfold.

The birth of a ministry through writing

As I embarked on this new chapter, I was inspired by my Sunday school children to write my first book, The First Family: Adam, Eve, and God. Their curiosity and enthusiasm sparked a creative fire within me, and I knew I had to share this story with the world. This book is more than just a retelling of biblical history; it’s a reflection on the relationships between the first family and God, and the lessons we can learn from their experiences.

‘Dancing with the Divine’

As I continued on this writing journey, I felt compelled to explore another passion — spiritual dancing. Growing up in churches where dance was often viewed with skepticism, I never understood the power of movement in worship. However, later in life, I was introduced to spiritual dancing, and it transformed my relationship with God. My second book, Dancing with the Divine: A Journey of Movement and Spirit, is a reflection on this journey, exploring the intersection of faith and movement.

A new chapter: book launch

I’m thrilled to announce that the book launch for both The First Family and Dancing with the Divine will take place on November 15, 2025 at Grace & Truth Church Stellenbosch (21 Tennant Street, Cloetesville, Stellenbosch) for R150 entry fee. This special event marks a new chapter in my ministry, and I’m honored to share these books with you. As a token of appreciation, attendees will receive a complimentary copy of one of the books being launched.
