God-given chance to vote

Defending family, faith and freedom

With the Local Government Elections fast approaching, Christian citizens will again be provided the God-given opportunity to select Godly men and women of integrity and elect them as officials.

Much of the anger and despair in society can be avoided if you and I take the time to register to vote, carefully select the political party that best represents our values & vote our values!
The weekend of 5 and 6 March is your final opportunity to register to vote. Christian citizens have a responsibility to God to effect change in the nation by electing God honoring officials into office.

To confirm whether you are registered to vote please SMS your ID number to 32810 or call the IEC toll-free number on 0800 11 8000. Every vote counts. Vote your values & transform South Africa.

I launched a campaign last year to highlight the value of Christian media in SA. The liberal secular media exhibit an undeniable anti–Christian bias and cannot be trusted to be fair & balanced. I am therefore delighted to learn about the recent launch of a Christian online newspaper in the Eastern Cape. Gateway News is the brainchild of Port Elizabeth journalist, Andre Viljoen who has a passion to report the news from a Christian perspective but also in a fair and objective manner.

I agreed to submit regular topical articles to Gateway News to help promote its growth & success. Please check out Gateway News & encourage your family/friends to support this worthy initiative. Please also continue to support Christian magazines in the major retail chains in your region.

I have requested a meeting with Luwellyn Landers, the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development in Parliament, to discuss the “Prevention & Combating of Trafficking in Persons” Bill. I will keep you posted on developments in future updates.

Arlene and I will fly to Durban on 4 March to meet with Pastor Clive & Sandra Gopaul and attend the 20th Anniversary Celebrations of “Conquering Through Prayer Ministries International”. On 7 March we travel to the Kwazisabantu Mission about two hours outside Durban where I am scheduled to speak at the Kwazisabantu Minister’s Conference during 7 – 9 March 2011. Please commit to pray for Arlene and me as we travel around the country to meet with the Christian leadership in South Africa and share the vision of Family Policy Institute.

FPI Out & About
On 17 Feb Arlene and I flew to PE and drove down to Plett. I spoke at a men’s meeting at 6am on 18 Feb at Plettenberg Bay Community Church. Later that morning I had the privilege of addressing the entire assembly at Plett Christian School at the invitation of the Headmaster, Dave Hall. I was greatly encouraged to speak to approximately 200 young people at a combined youth event at Plettenberg Bay Community Church on Friday evening 18 Feb. This was the highlight of my trip.

I spoke at a fundraiser on 19 Feb in support of the pro-life ministry” Options” at the beautiful Simola Hotel in Knysna. I was privileged to minister alongside Drummond and Linda Robinson of Family Transformation Ministries. I even managed to auction five paintings at this auspicious event. On Saturday evening 19 Feb, I preached for Pastor Richard Meyer at the “Rock” Church in Knysna. I preached the 9am service for Pastor Johan Coetzee at Plett Community Church on 20 Feb then drove to PE, to preach the 5pm service for Ps Jerome Liberty at Victory Ministries International.

FPI in the Media
On Sunday 13 Feb I participated in a debate with Kate Turkington on Radio 702. We discussed President Zuma’s comments about heaven & hell and what constitutes blasphemy.
Defending the Family!

I wrote to General Motors MD, Edgar Lourencon requesting he withdraw GM’s appalling “Red Tag” anti-family adverts from South African television. The adverts appear to commend men & women who spend long hours at work to the neglect & obvious destriment of their families. Two disgusting ads caught my attention. One where a wife gives birth to a child that is obviously not her husband’s and another where a senior man attempts to hit on a teenage girl only to discover its his daughter. Apparently, GM staff are commended for neglecting their families. In a telephone conference with GM’s Marketing Director, Melanie Maddux she agreed to withdraw the offending ads with immediate effect.
