Melodi, the fourth in six films in Heartlines’ Fathers Matter series will premiere on SABC 2 on Saturday October 8 at 8.30pm.

And you can catch the last two movies in the series, Airwalker and Manskap, at the same time on October 15 and 22 respectively.

If you have missed any of the films, from this series, which is designed to start a discussion in South Africa around the important topic of fatherhood, you can stream them (after they have screened on SABC 2) on TelkomOne, or you can catch them on Heartlines’ YouTube channel at the end of October. Alternatively, you can watch repeat screenings on SABC 2 from 9.30pm on Mondays to Wednesdays from October 17 to 26.

Previously it was advertised that there would be repeat showings on Thursday nights after the premieres, but Heartlines apologised this week that this has not happened due to circumstances beyond their control.

This week’s movie, Melodi (Thuli Nduvane), tells the story of a successful banker who was raised by a loving single mother, Sesi (Unathi Guma). She is about to be married to Liyanda (Luluma Nyembezi). Wedding plans are underway and lobola negotiations are about to start.

But all this brings back old wounds and deep feelings of abandonment. Why did her father, Mojalefa (Tshepo Maseko), abandon her as a baby? Melodi decides to deal with the pain of her past by searching for a father she never knew, before making a commitment of her own. Will this journey bring her healing?
