For 15 years, from 2011 to 2026, Sharon Gabay photographed Jerusalem through its people rather than its monuments. Born in the city, into a family that has lived there for generations, he went out into the streets week after week, at eye level, without staging. JERUSALEMITES, published in 2026, gathers close to 300 photographs chosen from an archive of more than 1.5 million: Jews, Christians and Muslims, religious and secular, old and young, in markets, alleys, courtyards and on the light rail. The book is trilingual, Hebrew, English and Arabic, and runs without captions. It is Jerusalem as it actually is day to day, which is not the Jerusalem most people meet in the news.
