Collective Records announces this week the launch event for Restored, the debut album from The Jesus Collective.
To celebrate the release of the 16-track album co-produced by Nqubeko Mbatha (SA) and David “Dlo” Outing (USA), the album launch event from the multicultural group, will be held in Cape Town at Grand Arena, GrandWest on Friday August 12 with doors opening at 6pm.
Restored delivers songs penned and performed by some of the country’s top artists, bringing listeners a variety of genres in multiple languages from koortjies, to CCM, Gospel and praise and worship. Featuring well-loved artists Ntokozo Mbambo, Loyiso Bala, HLE, Khaya Mthethwa, Varonica Meyer, Don Vino, Charnell Joseph and more, the audience will be taken through the journey from song writing to the final recording, say the promoters.
“It’s been an emotional two years leading up to this moment, having lost one of our founding members Sipokazi “SK” Nxumalo, who passed just a few days after this recording. Restored is dedicated to her.” says, Hilton Petersen, President of Collective Records. “This is a celebration of her life and the goodness, joy and grace we will always remember her by, as she lived out a life of worship.”
The audience will experience a live performance of the current single Kuyenzeka featuring multi award-winning artist, Khaya Mthethwa, which has aired on 32 radio stations, and the official music video having been viewed more than 275k times on YouTube. In an interactive Q&A, the group will share key moments from the album journey, song stories, footage from the initial songwriting retreats and energetic live performances of the final songs. The full album will be available on all digital platforms from August 13.
