A monthly column in which Julita Kok shares on living adventurously with God
Oh my hat!!! What a time we live in!
And it keeps happening so fast. But is this not exactly what the Bible says? It calls it perilous times, and this is what it says concerning these times.
Signs of the Times: Increased earthquakes, pestilences (epidemics), and “fearful events” (Luke 21:11).
Social and Moral Decay: People will be lovers of self, lovers of money, disobedient to parents, unholy, and without natural affection (2 Timothy 3:1–5).
Spiritual Deception: Many will turn away from the faith to follow deceiving spirits and false teachers (1 Timothy 4:1).
Global Gospel Spread: The Gospel will be preached throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations before the end comes (Matthew 24:14).
Increase of Lawlessness: The love of many will grow cold due to widespread lawlessness (Matthew 24:12).
Antichrist/Tribulation: A period of unprecedented persecution, often associated with a figure known as the Antichrist or “the beast” (Revelation 13).
You only need to open any social media page to find all of these EVERYWHERE.
And with the war between Israel and Iran, fear is once again gripping the hearts of people. Not going to be enough petrol and diesel, which will increase all other living expenses and and and. But what does God say about all of this? What is my and your role as children of God in these times?
We do not have a spirit of fear. As simple as that. So during these times, do NOT allow fear. If you operate from a place of fear you make a lot of — sorry to say — real stupid decisions. And these decisions will affect your life down the line, and not in a good way.
This is the time to truly be His disciples and spread the Gospel of good news — and truly, we need some good news. What is greater news than knowing that you can spend your eternity with Him because Jesus already paid the price? Such a reassurance. And because of this knowledge, fear takes a hike.
And to me… during these times… Psalm 46:10 — Be still and KNOW that I am God. This puts your heart at rest. All anxiety just has no hold over you.
In times like these, I always remind myself of God’s promises to the human race and to me and my family personally. And if there are prophecies which have not come to fulfillment yet, it is not the end.
And then we have lots to do.
Yesterday I had such an encounter again. I had to go to the doctor to just check on my blood pressure (was told to come back after six months), and I am the only one in the reception area. So of course, I start talking to the receptionist (who I have never met before), and of course, I cannot NOT speak of Jesus and the goodness of God.
She is in her late 50s and she says: “I recently decided that I need to change my lifestyle and beliefs. My mother is a Jew and my father an Afrikaner, but I felt I had to turn to God. But I have no cooking clue where to start or what to believe. I have so many questions.”
And yet again I am in awe of this God who just cares so much. He involves Himself in this woman’s life, and He sends me to lead her on the next steps. How He loves us!!

So we now have a coffee date, and I will answer as many questions as I can. And of course, I will be led by the Holy Spirit, so I have no concerns that I will not be able to help, as this is a God connection.
But to think that six months ago He already knew that this day would happen, and He set it up that I go for my check-up at the time she needs answers. What a God.
So, amidst all these terrible things in the earth currently, all I can say is: take it one day at a time. Do what your hand finds to do today. You have opportunities TODAY! Do not miss them because you are worried about things you cannot control tomorrow. You have breath in your lungs today.
Friends, we are in such capable and safe hands. If your testimony is that God is in control, then now is the time to put your money where your mouth is. Do not fear. Love everyone with the love of God. Spread the Gospel of good news and be kind to others. Teach your children and your grandchildren the ways of the Lord. This is the most important and valuable thing you can give them now… to know Jesus and His Holy Spirit and to know for certain that God is a good Father.
This will keep them safe. And with “safe” I always mean their hearts, because death comes for everyone, but death to us is only stepping into the NEW with Him.
So in these times, friends, remain steadfast and fearless because of God’s sovereignty and constant presence. You will do good if you do this.
Interesting fact: Toward the end of last year, God instructed me to go to America and Israel. So I booked my flights… and then the world turned upside down. But how interesting that these were the two countries He chose.
So I am doing nothing… I wait. Not asking for refunds, not changing dates… I wait.
Be still and know that I am God.
So if all goes according to plan, I will be writing to you from the US next month.
Much love and peace to you all.
