Christian musician Dewald Gouws who is well-known as a worship leader at Mighty Men conferences shares a testimony about the origin of one of his latest songs, Born Again:
“After a wonderful holiday in the Cape in October of 2016, and long hours spent on the road, I decided to let my family Nesta, Denrique and Chenesse fly back from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg in order for me to take on this long journey ahead, all by myself. The reason was to shorten their journey home and for my son to attend a leadership camp.
“The Lord placed a desire on my heart to stop at Jannie Moolman’s farm in Middelburg Karoo, the same farm where the Karoo Mighty Men Conference takes place every year. I sat for hours at the cross on top of the rocky hill with my guitar, a pen and a notepad. I wanted to write a song about the appreciation I have for the mighty work of the Holy Spirit at this very place.
“As sunset dawned on me, I had a beautiful melody with just a few words, ‘Be still and know God is here’ which gave me peace in my spirit regarding this song. I went to bed at around 23:30pm and was woken up by the Lord at around 02:30am that next morning. The Spirit of the Lord then covered me in love and blessed me with beautiful lyrics.
“I was excited to know that God gave me such a special and blessed song to share with everyone. ‘If only for one soul, we will do it again’ is the drive behind the Karoo Mighty Men Conference to enrich the lives of others through sharing the good news of the gospel. I want to thank Jannie Moolman, his family and everyone involved at the Karoo MMC the last 7 years. Through all your hard work and dedication, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, can be celebrated.”
Here is the new song called “Born Again”. May God bless you.
