Luke 24:17 (NKJV): And he said to them what kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?
Luke 24:25: Then He said to them, oh foolish ones and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken.
This is Jesus speaking to the men on the road to Emmaus, asking them why they are so sad. Then later on, after letting them know who He was, He said:”Foolish ones, and slow of heart.” We need to remember what the Lord has said in His Word; He promised us that everything that we are seeing today in the world will come to pass before He returns again.
Yet, many of us believers, when we talk, the people in the world must think that we don’t know our Scriptures. Romans 8:31 says “If God is for us, who can be against us.” So why are we downcast and why are we so worried, fearful and sad? At this Easter time we are sad when we hear of the horrific crucifixion that took place, but if we know the Scriptures, then we know that this had to happen. Jesus said to the men, if you knew the scriptures then you know that Christ had to suffer these things and then enter into His glory. We need to be very careful how we speak.
Yes, we can see what’s happening on the world stage between the Middle East and Iran and between Russia and Ukraine. We can see what’s happening with the decline in morality, the lack of respect in families between parents and children getting worse by the day, and we are sad. But the Lord is reminding us today that these things have all been prophesied; it’s going to happen. He says in the End Times the chasm between good and evil will become more extreme — the evil will become more evil and the righteous more righteous before the coming of the Lord.
We need to stand tall; we need to remember that we have got Jesus Christ in our corner. He is representing us and He has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Therefore we need to lift up our heads; we need to talk life and not death and we need to remember one thing — the best is yet to come, Jesus Christ is coming back for His bride. Let us be ready and let us speak life and not death, especially to those who do not know the Lord.
Yours in Christ’s service
