Sunday October 3 is International Life Chain Sunday, a day which has previously seen as many as a million Christians in 1 800 locations worldwide participating in peaceful, prayer protest against abortion.

In South Africa life chain events are planned in Cape Town on Sunday and in Kempton Park and Durban on Saturday as follows:

Cape Town, Sunday 3 October, 2pm to 4pm: The traffic island in Buitengracht Street, near the entrance to Waterfront. Contact: Africa Christian Action: 021-689-4480, or info@christianaction.org.za.

Kempton Park , Saturday, October 2: 12pm to 2pm. Corner of CR Swart Drive and Kelvin Street, by Festival Mall, Kempton Park. Contact: Nico van Zyl: 072-235-0201.

Durban, Saturday, October 2: Conference organised by the National Alliance for Life, email the National Alliance for Life mail@dfl.org.za.

The Christian Action Network (CAN) estimates that well over 1.8 million babies have been killed by legal abortions in South Africa since 1997 with the actual number of legal abortions higher than the official amount due to outstanding statistics from some provinces in previous years and a possible failure of some hospital officials to accurately record abortions in state hospitals.

The war against the pre-born is compounded by illegal abortionists who encourage vulnerable young women in every town and city to use abortion as a contraceptive, says CAN. It urges everyone to scrape off illegal abortion posters whenever possible.
