LOVE, answered prayer, revival fire, miracles and more — US prophetic intercessor shares impressions of Speak Jesus prayer day

Last week we shared Vareena Swihart’s amazing testimony about her Africa revival vision and her connection with the venue of Saturday’s Speak Jesus prayer day. Vareena, a South African who has lived in the US for 34 years, and her husband, Steve, flew to SA to attend the event in Krugersdorp. Vareena was also one of more than 3 000 intercessors who prayer for Saturday’s prayer day. Below she reflects on what the day meant to her.

As we participated in the “Speak Jesus!” event, I was profoundly moved to witness the truly soft, expectant, loving, humble hearts of everyone – the countless workers dressed in yellow vests who directed traffic, etc., were just filled with JOY and love.

As we entered the grounds, we were RECEIVED with friendly, gracious, soft LOVE by all who served in a way that was deeply moving! To arrive and to be received in such a way by all the workers everywhere was already touching and a incredible blessing from God! The love of Jesus Christ manifested CLEARLY in the hearts of ALL the workers – ALL day long, which in of itself would have been enough to prove as a TESTIMONY the fact that the LIVING GOD is ALIVE in His people!

But, wait – there was MUCH more!

To witness the crowds, completely STILL before the Lord, eagerly expecting to hear and receive His Word, HIS message through uncle Angus who was “sent” on that land, a land that has been dedicated to God’s glorious purposes, was nothing but profoundly moving and deeply touching – truly miraculous!

Both my husband and I were in tears at various points as the Spirit of our Living God moved and we felt His presence tangibly, only to see Him at work in the hearts of people in countless ways. 

I too was absolutely amazed to see that the crowds were NOT distracted – which was in fact a very specific answer to our prayers; we prayed specifically even before we went that morning against DISTRACTIONS!

To witness the fulfilment of our requests to God was, of course, exhilarating. There were many temporary bathrooms available at various places all around the hills and valleys. Contrary to what Steve and I have personally experienced from having attended countless large Christian gatherings all over the USA over the last more than 2 decades, is that there is usually a steady flow of traffic to and from the restrooms. BUT GOD! The sun was hot, and the worship and speaking lasted for many hours, YET, barely anyone ever went to the restrooms…! It seemed that not even a fraction of a percent of the crowd ever left to even use the restrooms — how could this be? I WAS AMAZED!!! Never in my life have I seen such a phenomenon in small or large crowds – the people were FIXED and FOCUSSED on what God had for them, unwavering, expectant and not distracted, and this was true for the saved and pre-saved alike!

My heart also burst from JOY and GRATITUDE as with every declaration for Jesus Christ, every call to STAND PUBLICLY for God, the ENTIRE crowd stood! And REMAINED standing.

From our view high up on a hill where we finally ended up sitting with my family, I could literally not see a SINGLE person NOT standing up and publicly confessing, declaring Jesus Christ as Lord!!! 

In the USA during Christian crowd gatherings, there are always some who stand and many who don’t. 

BUT NOT SO at “Speak Jesus!” – EVERYONE STOOD like one GREAT and AWESOME ARMY, UNIFIED, EVERYONE STANDING!!!

Many were delivered, many received prayers, many were healed, many surrendered to Christ, and many rededicated their lives to Him – which was all GLORIOUS to experience!

For a personal testimony, I experienced someone who arrived at the gathering that morning with “a heart of stone” but after the Lord performed “heart surgery”, the person was blessed with a NEW heart and a NEW spirit from within – according to Ezekiel 36:26!  ONLY GOD can accomplish such a miracle in the heart of any person, ONLY a wonderworking God!

After the crowds were dismissed and uncle Angus finally left after preaching a TRUE, RAW, REAL, “NOW WORD” to the people of South Africa, the worship team kept playing on stage and it was as though the Spirit of God drew us to the worship where many of us were blessed by God’s GLORIOUS OUTPOURING of His WORSHIP anointing and presence as we CELEBRATED Him for a very long time afterwards, basking in the GLOW of His presence!

In fact, when the worship team was finally told that they needed to finish up, we were very sad as the air was saturated and ALIVE with His awesome worship presence which is always a LIFE impartation directly from the Father’s throne!

Steve and I were some of the last crowd people (not the diligent workers) to leave the grounds — and I can’t even say that our “flesh” was tired after so many hours in the hot sun and all the walking, since our spirits felt REFRESHED. In fact, we felt STRENGTHENED and filled with HOPE-JOY as ONLY God can perform that for His people! 

However, as we left and started on our longer walk up a few hills to get to our car, my husband had a silent request to God (unbeknown to me) for help to walk back to our car. We had barely started to walk on the path up the hill, and a man with a truck pulled up next to us asking if he could give us a ride back to our car!  GOD PROVIDES!!! And then we had an amazing time talking to him and hearing his testimony of God at work in his life and how his family was blessed at the event. His adult son who had been addicted to drugs for 11 years, and who was on a road of recovery, decided to come to “Speak Jesus!” out of his own desire, and the man was amazed and deeply grateful to God for that fact! To his family, his son’s attending the event was in of itself a miracle.

We definitely saw that many were sparked or “re-sparked” as such with the LIGHT and LIFE of Jesus Christ in their hearts. We know that as people are on FIRE for Him, and sharing Jesus Christ with others, the great increasing and spreading of REVIVAL LIGHT FIRE all over South and Southern Africa will be manifesting. We rejoice!!!

SIGNIFICANT and DIVINELY orchestrated as the “Speak Jesus!” event was, the fruit of it, the LIGHT sparked and spreading after the gathering with the invisible but tangible impartation received by all, is even more significant!

The next day, on September 25 2022, Rosh Hashanah or the “Feast of Trumpets”, my husband and I went to the 8am service at “The Base” church located at the beginning of the “Speak Jesus!” event location.  My father, Abraham Matthee, built the buildings over many years, and “The Base” church renovated and transformed it in MARVELOUS ways!

We arrived at 8.05am and we couldn’t find anywhere to park, the grounds were overflowing! As we approached the amphitheatre area next to the main church building with worship unto the Lord of Lords and King of Kings resounding and echoing through the air, rivers of glory flowing over to the hills and valleys there, the ushers approached us and apologised that even their standing areas, let alone the seats, were overflowing. They were sorry that we would have to stand outside the overflow area to unite in worship due to the church being so full. Ecstatic about that fact I exclaimed: “This is not a problem!  This is a miracle! This is GLORIOUS!”  We all laughed together and agreed in rejoicing over the goodness of what God was doing!

Since my husband Steve had not been back to South Africa in eight years, and hadn’t been inside “The Base” church to witness what God was doing there (as we had both warred for many years over ONLY Jesus Christ to be declared and preached there in His true Power and Majesty), we entered at the back of the church where it too was overflowing.

As Steve witnessed and experienced a literal HOLY GLORY REVIVAL, a crowd set on FIRE, worshipping God and the spiritual atmosphere EXPLOSIVE with JOY and TRUE WORSHIP of JESUS CHRIST, he literally burst into tears!  And so it was that as God gave us favour to be seated inside the church at the front on a side bench area, and we experienced WORSHIP REVIVAL FIRES with the crowds at “The Base” church on that SON-day morning! We were constantly in tears – weeping from JOY and the GOODNESS of GOD!

THE HOLY GLORY REVIVAL FIRES OF LIGHT AND THE LIFE OF JESUS CHRIST TRULY LIT AND LITERALLY EXPLODING!!!

What a GIFT from God!!!

I have said for all the many years where God has ordered me to participate in prophetic intercession assignments, that an intercessor’s reward is ANSWERED PRAYER.

Nothing sets us more on fire, encourages us more, blesses us more, and feels like a personal GIFT-reward, than to have heard from the Lord, pray His will where His word does not return void but to see a literal manifestation of the prayer accomplishing it’s assignment.  To not only witness but to experience the REVIVAL FIRES exploding at “The Base” church that morning was only a GIFT from God to both Steve and I.  We couldn’t believe, yet we could believe it through God – what mercy and grace of our AWESOME God!

We believe with firm hope, that REVIVAL FIRES of LIGHT were manifesting as revival was activated at “The Base” church. But we also believe that this applies to every single place of those who obediently came to give and receive from the Lord and were imparted with LIGHT and LIFE at “Speak Jesus!” and set on fire for God in a NEW way, in a NEW day.

And I have to share about another event at “Speak Jesus!” that actually shocked Steve and I – a financial offering was never taken up! For over 2 decades in gatherings across the globe and even in Jerusalem, Israel, we have NEVER EVER been at any small or large gathering where an offering was NOT taken up…!

We are aware of the incredible cost to host such a gathering, and yet, uncle Angus LIVED his “Faith like Potatoes” message, and trusted God for provision.

To us, this was another MIRACLE of God. Just saying, “Faith Like Potatoes!” in ACTION.

A now word for SA
This is the “NOW” word that I believe to be true for the Body of Jesus Christ in South Africa:

Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV) — “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

STAND, SOUTH AFRICA! In Jesus Christ’s name, warriors, STAND.
