Pastors Denvar and Rene Marks, an anointed pastoral couple from South Africa, will be relocating this week, on a mandate to train up leaders and prophets in the churches of the predominantly Muslim country of Tanzania.
“We are sad to leave our families and comforts yet excited to be used by God”, shared Pastor Denvar, in a farewell service at home church, Word of Faith in Port Elizabeth, last weekend, on the eve of the couple’s departure together with their daughters, Jorda-Hannah, 9 and Mercedes, 11.
Moving to Tanzania was the last thing on their minds until an evening in December 2012 whilst on holiday in George. God spoke to each of them, privately, with an instruction to move to Tanzania. Despite their different locations at the time, the instruction was exactly the same and confirmed a dream that daughter, Jorda, had. The spirit of the Lord had told Jorda that her family is called to the nations and that she will move with her a family to another country.
This prophetic family are no strangers to Tanzania which they started visiting five years ago at the invitation of a close friend, Pastor Walter Shaidi. “There have been many physical healings, emotional healings, people’s lives and marriages have been changed and they’ve had encounters with God,” a passionate Pastor Denvar shared. He explained that during their annual visits to the country, they had seen so many souls come to the Lord that a church was needed. This resulted in the planting of a church in Kibamba situated in Dar es Salaam. This church is now pastored by Pastor Jeffrey Shaidi, a retired judge who had received a prophetic word from the powerhouse couple to pastor the church. “The church has grown in the space of four years and now has 350 members with a church building that is paid off. Thats God!” shared Pastor Denvar.
The Marks family will be assisting the Kibamba church by extensively building up its leaders and raising up pastors and evangelists. Their work does not end there though, and he shared that it is on their hearts to spend time amongst all the small churches located in the area, 1 500 in total, to help make a difference within the church structures, so that the people of God can be more effective with helping the hurt, broken and afflicted. “We will be training, equipping and spending time amongst the little churches, training them in the prophetic and in the five fold ministry,” he explained. “We will even be focusing on couples ministries, youth ministries and marriage ministries.”
On one of their last visits, God spoke to Denvar and Rene about the hearts of the sons. “God showed us that He’s marked Africa as a whole. Africa needs to know that they have a Father!” shared Pastor Rene, during the church farewell service. The Holy Spirit had revealed that God wants to ‘return the hearts of the sons back to their Father’ (Malachi 4:6) and the prophetic couple will be starting on this God given mandate in Tanzania, working their way throughout Africa.
As pastors at Word of Faith in Port Elizabeth, Denvar and Rene have been serving on church leadership for many years, where they have built up many disciples. “Denvar and Rene have been our son and daughter,” shared Pastor Mariana Crompton, Senior Pastor at Word of Faith. “They have been there for people. But I feel that God is sending them into Africa. We’re going to see a revival that’s going to break through!”
It is clear that they have a true passion to minister Gods love and redeeming grace to Africa, as Pastor Rene shares: “We are falling in love with the people of Tanzania.”
