Men’s Stories: Everything changed when God wove their lives together

Andrew Johnson and Johnny Vermeulen played for Eastern Province Rugby together. They were in the Murder and Robbery Squad together. But they were not close friends and their lives were poles apart. When they met again after more than a decade, Andrew did not know that Johnny was in the worldly wilderness after abandoning his faith a decade before. And Johnny did not know that the hard-living Andrew he remembered had just given his life to Jesus. When Andrew told Johnny he was born again, Johnny nearly rolled the car in which they were travelling. Andrew jumped out after the vehicle screeched to a halt on the roadside gravel and Johnny rushed around and grabbed him, saying: “I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. And who does He put in my path but you!”

In this week’s podcast chat with Ethan Black of KingfisherFM , Andrew and Johnny share how they became “walking testimonies for Jesus” after God unexpectedly wove their lives together 18 years ago. Currently they are both involved in Rugby Players for Jesus.

What a mighty God we serve!
May their powerful testimonies have a great effect on many lives; bringing the lost to Salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ !

  2. Joan I echo what you have said. Wow thank you Andrew and Johnny for sharing your powerful testimony. May you never be quiet but continue to share and encourage those who don’t know Jesus that they too may come into His wonderful Kingdom. For many years i have prayed specifically for the police and so your testimony is a double blessing. Thank you !
