Men’s Stories: From family business to Heaven’s business

In this week’s podcast chat with Ethan Black of KingfisherFM , Hendrik van Aswegen shares amazing testimonies of how, during a mission trip to India and a conversation with his father, God confirmed that his calling was not to take over the family business but to full-time Christian ministry. Years later, after extensive Bible school preparation, the nature of his calling was brought into sharper focus as he started a prayer and fasting group during Covid lockdown.

In 2022, an unexpected holiday meeting with a leader of Word For The World, resulted in his appointment as prayer coordinator for the ministry that is committed to bringing the Bible to people groups in their “heart language” in partnership with the local church. Commenting on the rapid expansion of their intercessory prayer network, Hendrik says: “Currently we’ve got close to a thousand churches praying. In the Philippines, all over the world. in the Caribbean, in the Middle East. God’s multiplication is very different. His ways are not our ways.”
