In 2022 Neels de Jager went on an extreme hike in the Drakensberg with Christian men’s movement 4MZA to get in touch with himself. “I think that experience saved my life,” he says in a podcast with Ethan Black. After his business failed in 2019, and Covid added to his financial crisis, he isolated himself. In that lonely place he became addicted to pornography and had an extramarital affair. On the hike, with no cellphones or other distractions and with the company of men searching for God’s purpose for their lives, he discovered that other men were going through similar struggles. The prayer, support and open sharing on that hike helped him to decide to deal forthrightly with his issues. In the podcast Neels shares how he and his wife moved forward. He also shares on strategies to maintain his newfound freedom in a world full of temptations.
