More than 300 people were baptised at a gathering of the Methodist Church in Cuba’s Guantánamo District, according to Luzvisión Noticias, which described the event as historic. Bishop Ricardo Pereira and Superintendent Roelvis Gaínza led the ceremony, which drew hundreds of families.
The outlet reported that the Methodist Church in Cuba has seen notable growth in its local ministries over the past decade. It said evangelical congregations have become key places of social support, hope and moral renewal for Cubans, despite complex socioeconomic conditions and structural restrictions on the island.
Organisers described the gathering as a time of spiritual unity, with “more than 300 souls gathered in one accord, in one faith, in one Lord.” Participants sang songs of thanksgiving and celebration.

Church leaders spoke about the gospel’s power to change individual and family life. The ministers said baptism marks a deep transformation, noting that “each life that goes down into the waters is leaving the old behind.”
Each person baptised, they said, becomes a living example of Christian consecration and a sign of hope for communities in eastern Cuba.
According to Luzvisión Noticias, local evangelicals saw each baptism as a spiritual victory and a visible sign of the church’s growth.
The outlet said the Guantánamo gathering reflects the perseverance of Cuba’s homegrown pastoral leaders in difficult circumstances. It also pointed to revival movements that it said continue to spread the gospel in provinces across the island.
