A month ago more than 6 000 people gathered at the Vegkop Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia for a “Speak Jesus” national prayer day led by farmer-evangelist Angus Buchan.
“For Namibia, that’s a lot of people coming together at one time, and we thank the Lord for that,” said Romie van Wyk, who organised the event to pray for revival — and for rain.
In a telephone interview today he said that straight after the event three or four farmers sent him videos and pictures of rain they had encountered on their drive home.
Then, on last Sunday, somebody he was talking with on the phone said he believed the nation is going to suffer a drought this year.
“I said, no, it’s not our decision. God decides whether we are going to have drought or not. And we prayed about rain on the 24th of March. We asked the Lord to send us rain, and we are going to receive it still.
“And on Monday morning, at about half past 12, I was was still awake. And the next moment I can just hear some raindrops and I looked out the window and I saw clouds everywhere and it was raining all through the night — the whole country actually.”
Later, Romie shared a video clip [see below] of the rain with Angus Buchan.
He said that as we were talking today, he was standing on his plot outside the town of Rheoboth, and he could see clouds gathering together, which suggested it might rain again tonight.
Commenting on the impact of the Speak Jesus event last month, he said: “I can see in the people’s hearts, I can hear when you talk to people, there’s change. You can see there’s excitement. People have got new expectations. And even in the atmosphere, you can just sense that something is different, completely different, because of prayer.
“Prayer is the answer to all our, all our needs.”
