At the weekend The Chosen creator and director Dallas Jenkins announced that the long-awaited streaming of Season 4 is expected to start in four to seven weeks time.
The season finale of The Chosen’s third season was packed with drama and excitement. Jesus miraculously fed a sea of people. He walked on the actual sea. And he single handedly calmed a wild and raging storm. With all that epic excitement, one might expect smoother sailing in season four of The Chosen. However, the series enters its most tumultuous season yet as Jesus’ widespread fame and following attract the attention of the religious and political elite—for whom he’s now a rival. As his enemies close in, his followers struggle to keep up, leaving him to carry the burden alone.
This season, Jonathan Roumie returns to play the role of Jesus. Set against the backdrop of Roman oppression in first-century Israel, the show shares an authentic and intimate look at his revolutionary life and teachings. The implications of Jesus’ radical message continue to sink in for his followers as they struggle to understand their role. He and his followers face their biggest challenges yet. Loyalties are strained, faith is tested and tensions boil.
Jesus finds himself more isolated than ever as pressure from the highest levels of political and religious authorities continues to mount. A major overall theme is the idea of light from the darkness—audiences will see joy come from grief, hope from sorrow, and life from death.
Much loved for its relatable characters and relevant storylines, The Chosen is one of the most-watched shows globally, consistently a top performer across multiple streaming platforms globally. What started as a crowd-funded project, became the world’s number 1 crowd funded television series of all time and to date, the series has garnered over 200 million views.
