The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has called for three days of national fasting and prayer from Friday May 22 to Sunday May 24 with the theme “The Consuming Fire” in view of insecurity, bloodshed, economic hardship, persecution, and other disturbing developments in the nation.
According to a notice from Africa’s fastest-growing church, the Redeeming Christian Church of God to its estimated 9 million members in 200 countries and territories, the prayer focus includes peace and unity in Nigeria; divine protection over all Nigerians; an end to bloodshed, violence, terrorism, insecurity; divine intervention in the nation’s economic challenges; justice for the oppressed and preservation of innocent lives; and spiritual revival and growth of the Church in Nigeria.
The general overseer of the RCCG has also directed that on Sunday RCCG parishes worldwide should organise rallies where they should display placards bearing the inscriptions: #NO TO INSECURITY, #NO TO ISLAMIZATION AGENDA, #STOP THE KILLINGS, #STOP THE PERSECUTION OF CHRISTIANS, #EVERY LIFE MATTERS, #SEEK HELP IF YOU CANNOT DO IT. #STOP THE GENOCIDE AGAINST CHRISTIANS, #NO TO ECONOMIC HARDSHIP, #NIGERIA MUST BE SAFE, #LET NIGERIANS LIVE, #ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, #PROTECT THE INNOCENT, #PEACE AND SECURITY NOW, #END BLOODSHED IN NIGERIA, #JUSTICE FOR THE OPPRESSED, #SAVE NIGERIA FROM TERROR, #WE DESERVE PEACE and #UNITED AGAINST VIOLENCE
Churches are urged to ensure maximum participation in the rallies.
Gateway News partner Eric Ighalo said:” This alignment by the Redeemed Christian Church of God is historic as its brings the case of Christian genocide in Nigeria to new levels.”
