More than 2 000 people from across South Africa and abroad attended the biennial Ministers’ Conference at KwaSizabantu in Kranskop, KwaZulu-Natal from March 3 to 5.
Attendees came from as far as the USA, UK, Armenia, India, France, Australia, South America, Mozambique, Congo, Zambia, Swaziland, Kenya, Malawi, and Lesotho.
This year’s theme was “Lord, send me” Speakers included Bishop Nkosinathi Ndwandwe (Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Natal); Kevin Swanson (Generations Ministry, USA); Hans Koller (KwaSizabantu Ministry, Romania); Chereddy Deevanaiah (Society of Holy Ministries, India) and Dr Robert Molnar (Former member of Hungarian Parliament).
In a message that resonated with many, Swanson said that in his country, faithful churches are increasingly persecuted — especially if they offend the world by upholding God’s standards of righteousness. “When God calls, when the Lord Jesus calls — the King of Kings; when the Lord of Lords calls, that is a very high call. That is the highest call of all. You can’t quit.” he said.
Deevanaiah spoke of how the founder of the KwaSizababtu Mission, Rev Erlo Stegen, had persevered through countless attacks on his work and stayed obedient to his calling to preach the Gospel among the Zulu people for over 70 years, until his death. “I can speak only my mother tongue”, he said, “but with God’s grace, I have preached the Gospel in many churches worldwide. But, I have never seen any place like KwaSizabantu anywhere in the world during my travels. We want a revival in India just like the revival among the Zulu people.”
Pastor Matthews Porotloane from Shalom in Welkom, who attended the Ministers’ Conference for the first time, said he was inspirited to continue with the work and the contacts he made at the conference were valuable. Leo Baan from Swaziland, a regular visitor, said he would not miss the event for anything. He said it is the place where he gets the inspiration and encouragement that keeps him going.
The non-denominational mission held its first Ministers’ Conference in 1988 and has hosted one every two years since then.
