The scripture found in Luke 6:28 says: “Bless those who curse you and pray for those who spitefully use you.”
This is totally opposite to the world’s outlook on how you handle people who spitefully use you. In the world they will tell you, get your own back, don’t put up with it, don’t tolerate it, make sure you get more back than what you have received. The Lord goes on to say: “he who strikes you on the cheek, offer him the other one also.” We teach our children to defend themselves, and that’s not a bad thing, but remember revenge belongs to Jesus, He has promised us that everything will be put right in the end.
Our position as Christians in the world is not to throw fuel on top of the fire that is already burning. The Lord says blessed are the peacemakers, found in Matthew 5:9: “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God,” not the peace lovers, because peace lovers will do anything, even compromise the Word of God in order to have peace, and of course that does not bring peace. Peacemakers are those who stand up for the truth in love and live according to God’s Holy Word.
The Lord never promised us that it would be easy when we gave our lives to Him, but He did promise us that He would walk with us through the fire.
Jesus bless you and continue to do things that are right, in other words do the right thing and God, through Jesus Christ and the power of His Holy Spirit, will accomplish the rest.
