Prayer breakfast on October 7 for healing of SA-Israel relations

An inaugural South Africa — Israel Prayer Breakfast to pray for the healing and restoration of SA’s relationship with Israel will take place in Pretoria on Monday October 7.

The prayer initiative is being launced 50 years after the Yom Kippur War which started on October 6 1973 and on the first anniversary of the Hamas attacks on October 7 last year.

“As you know, many of the African nations severed their relationship with Israel following the Yom Kippur War of 1973, succumbing to pressure from Arab countries that refused to accept the existence of the Jewish State.

“These nations were sadly ushered to a period of great challenges such as wars, famines, diseases and unusually high death rates, proving Scripture correct that those who bless Israel will be blessed, and those who curse Israel will be cursed (Genesis 12:2-3),” say Israel Matters, who are organising the event.

“We recognise that the hostile position taken by our South African government to mobilise the world against Israel, places responsibility on us who believe in the Bible and understand the importance of Israel to not be silent, lest we perish as a nation.

“Therefore, on the 7th October we would like to begin a new cycle of blessing Israel and pray for healing of our fractured relations with Israel. The program is scheduled to run from 8.30 to11am,” they say.

I pray that as many as can, will attend this initiative, and that those of us who cannot will support it by means of a prayer vigil of some sort. Genesis 12: 3 MUST be taken seriously.
Our government did not afford us the opportunity of declaring our convictions by means of a referendum on this controversial issue, so we have to push back in other ways – and what better way than prayer?
