‘Preborn babies’ lives matter’ — Letter to editor

Olga Tshikovi:

Dear editor

Each year we lose more preborn babies to abortion than the joint death tolls of crime and car accidents in our beloved country. This is disastrous!

Why do we keep quiet when babies are seen as an inconvenient burden, to be disposed of through abortion?

When we read Psalm 139, we see that, without the help of modern science, King David put into words what we all instinctively know: that an unborn child is a human. It is not our duty to dim the Gospel so that it doesn’t offend others. We are to uphold it in its purest and sacred form.

Preborn babies’ lives matter!

When I heard about pro-life doctors and nurses losing their jobs because they refused to take part in aborting babies, I was challenged to advocate for the unborn — to care and love my preborn neighbours as myself. I want to bring awareness to my community about the reality of abortion.

“Nursing is more than just a job — it is a noble calling to protect life and do no harm.

“There is something terribly wrong when you are forced out of your job on account of your commitment to protect life.” This was said by a nurse who lost her job because she chose to protect life — caring for each child, born or unborn.

Under no circumstances are we to compromise the Gospel to make it socially acceptable, politically correct, or more appealing to the world. Our fleshly desires, pride and sin should be repented of — God’s Truth is clear.

I’ve had chats with a few pregnant girls in our squatter community, most of them consider abortion because of unsupportive parents, partners and friends.

This lack of love and support deceives them into believing abortion is a solution, when the truth is that this perceived solution has lifelong traumatic and destructive consequences. The girls I care for have often returned, suffering with regret, shame and emotional wounds that isolate them even further.

Let us not be part of the problem! It may be legal, but that doesn’t make it right.

Let us love and support one another in doing what our loving God desires.

“Wisdom cries aloud in the street; in the markets she raises her voice” — Proverbs 1:205

How wonderful it would be to live in a country where people value life, at all stages!

“Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid!” — Romans 6: 1-2
