Read your Bible — Angus Buchan

First of all, we want to wish you a very happy and a very peaceful new year 2023. We trust that you will walk with your eyes fixed on the Lord Jesus Christ.

We want to speak to you today about the importance of reading your Bible in these last days. There is so much confusion and there are so many different ideas, that all look like good ideas. But the only way you can discern a good idea from a God idea is through the Word of God. If it doesn’t line up with the Bible, then don’t go there. I’m talking particularly about the King James Bible. The version which I use is the New King James Version, which is the Bible without the thee’s and the thou’s, but otherwise it is absolutely scripturally perfect.

John 1:1 says: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  Jesus is the Bible in print. Like we always say at Shalom, if somebody says: “Show me this Jesus that you are always talking about”, give them a Bible.  We have Bibles available, which we are offering to you at cost price. The same price that we imported them from overseas is the price that we are letting them go for. In that Bible is also one of my devotionals.

Now, I am making nothing out of it. Not one cent. Why am I doing it, you might as. Because of my heart for the importance of the written Word of God; because there are so many wolves walking around in sheep’s clothing.

We really need to know the Word of God because the Bible is what will keep us on the right road. I encourage you to spend lots and lots of time reading your Bible. Not now and again, but every single day. Maybe starting in the Book of Psalms and going through the Gospel of John.

Reading a portion every single day, in the first person, will open up a new dimension in your life. That’s exactly how I live my life. Every single morning at 4 o’clock, I get up up, and after making a cup of tea for Aunty Jill, I get into my quiet time room and I start to read the Word of God. It keeps me alive, it keeps me full of vigour; it keeps me full of faith; it heals me and it sets me free.

Please let this be a different year for you. Let this be the year that you are going to use the Bible as your compass and as your lamp.
