SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards nominees announced

The leading awards for celebrating excellence in the gospel industry announces its nominees

The World Gospel Powerhouse announced the nominees for the 9th Annual SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards in a grand all-white red carpet affair on October 19 2016, at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal – amid great excitement and anticipation.

The SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards, undoubtedly the leading awards that celebrate the many talents in the gospel music industry, will this year enter into its 9th year of being the biggest industry platform that recognises the achievements of artists, musicians, producers and other related industry stakeholders. This year’s Crown Gospel Music Awards will be held on November 27 2016 at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre (Durban ICC).

For the first time ever, the 2016 Crown Awards will be preceded by the Christian Expo Africa which will take place also at the Durban ICC from November 25 2016 leading right up to the main Crown Awards evening. The Christian Expo Africa one of the many opportunities that the Word Gospel Powerhouse provides through the Crown Gospel Music Awards for the industry and the public to engage, network and further exhibit their literature, merchandise, music, art-work and other relevant material.

It was only in 2007 when we started the Crown Gospel Music Awards with no money nor resources, but with a clear vision; a clear vision and great determination of opening doors for many in this great gospel music industry. Our mammoth task continues to be one of bringing back the gospel in gospel music because there is no gospel without Christ. This year saw more than 600 entries being received for the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards and after judging by our panel of experienced industry experts, a list of nominees was concluded. Six Categories will be decided upon by the public with no criteria used, and will be monitored by SABC Mobile, a system that will allow for a fair and accurate voting process. These Categories are: Best Amazion, Best Gospel Maskandi, Best Gospel Artist, Best Gospel Song, Best Gospel TV Show and Best Community Radio Show.
