Faith Alive Bible Church (FABC) hosted the inaugural King of Glory Sports Tournament — a competition based on Psalm 24 and with the main purpose of winning souls and “conquering the sports and recreation mountain” — in East London at the weekend .
The tournament which also serves to minister outside the four walls of the church is set to become an annual event.
Netball and soccer teams from Bisho Community Church youth, Uloyiso Community Church, Sakhuluntu Child and Youth Welfare from Duncan Village, and Youth Alive from FABC, participated in the tournament.
One of the comments voiced afterwards was: ‘It is so wonderful to be able to enjoy a game of soccer without hearing any swear words and with no fear of being mugged, stabbed or any visibility of alcohol and or smokers.”
The King of Glory Tournament started on Friday (October 31) with a youth service attended by all of the participating teams. The sports contests were held on Saturday and not even the rain that kept on pouring could stop the teams from achieving their goal. Each side was intent on going home with a medal and the floating trophy. On Sunday the tournament closed with a youth-led service at FABC where Luthando Daniels, a dynamic youth and radio personality and a child of God ministered. His message was on the type of people you meet in life; the “adders –stretchers, multipliers – power people, dividers- character assassins , and subtractors – parasitical people’. You just had to be at FABC to hear what he had to say.”
The consensus was that it was a weekend spent well, and the youth of Faith Alive come expecting and will be implementing more of this Kingdom Work in our city – East London.
What an uplifting event it sounds – congrats to the organisers, may it grow to be a national competition with more sports!
Wow, what a well written piece..
