For more than 46 months Syria has been going through a bloody and destructive civil war. From Aleppo pastor Samuel has been ministering to the suffering people. Below is his latest report on what Syrians face on a daily basis.

Last week I went to visit elderly people who are not able to go out of their homes due to their age or illness. The first one was a woman of over 80 years of age. For the last eight months she has been in bed because of a broken hip. She welcomed me with tears in her eyes. “Pastor, there are no doctors around and the medicines I need are very expensive. My children and my grandchildren left the country and they are telling me that they will return as soon as there will be peace. My neighbors also left. The weather is so cold. How long will I suffer? I am exhausted by talking to myself and I am praying, but it’s as if God is not listening to me.”

Also, there was a woman in her house that was taking care of her. I asked the elderly lady about this woman. She explained that her caregiver is not a Christian. Her husband was killed. Her home was destroyed and her kids were staying in an orphanage. She had no other place to stay than in the house of the elderly lady.

I ensured her that the woman taking care of her and living in her house already was an answer of the Lord to her prayers. “I know that a lot of elderly and sick people who can’t survive on their own,” I said.

I gave the caregiver a calendar with Arabic Bible verses and encouraged her.

The older woman asked me to pray. I prayed for both women. I asked for God’s strength and healing. After the prayer the elderly woman said: “Pastor, now a big weight has dropped from me and I am relieved. Thank God and praise The Lord. I am sure that God sent you to visit me. Please don’t forget me and continue your prayers.”

Syria is ranked No. 4 on the Open Doors 2015 World Watch List of the worst persecutors of Christians. Please pray for peace in Syria and for freedom for the persecuted. Please pray for funds for the pastors and missionaries in Syria to help the persecuted. Also please pray for salvation of the Muslims and help for the infirmed, the orphans, all children and the elderly.–Open Doors USA
