A very dear friend of mine who was a former Major General in the South African Defense Force, said something I will never forget, he said: “Train hard, fight easy.” I thought that was very profound and the Scripture to accompany this is I Corinthians 9:27 (NKJV) — But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
I heard someone say its easy to walk on water in an instant, but its hard to walk on land daily in the drudgery of our continual grind of life.
We cannot live on mountain top experiences, we really need to discipline ourselves and we need to train hard, we need to pray, we need to read our Bibles, we need to attend church, we need to be part of God’s army and then, when the fight comes, we can handle it. Remember, train hard and fight easy.
