Infuential media personality Tucker Carlson, who was recently fired from his highly popular opinion programme on Fox News, says he’s coming back with a new show on a very different platform — Twitter.

Carlson made the announcement in a video on Twitter after his last video on the platform went viral with 24 million views.

In his new post, he talked about how major media outlets often don’t tell the whole story. Carlson said: “Facts have been withheld on purpose, along with proportion and perspective. You are being manipulated.”

He believes there are few online places these days where people are allowed to tell the truth, but he says that under Elon Musk’s leadership, Twitter has finally become one of those places.

“There aren’t many platforms left that allow free speech. The last big one remaining in the world — the only one — is Twitter,” he said. “Twitter has long served as the place where our national conversation incubates and develops. Twitter is not a partisan site. Everybody’s allowed here, and we think that’s a good thing.”

“Starting soon we’ll be bringing a new version of the show we’ve been doing for the last six and a half years to Twitter,” he said in the video. “But for now we’re just grateful to be here. Free speech is the main right that you have. Without it, you have no others.”

Meanwhile, Axios reports that Carlson accused Fox News on Tuesday of fraud and breach of contract, saying he appears to be gearing up for possible legal action. That could free him from his non-compete agreement with Fox to allow him to pursue his new broadcasting venture.

After Carlson’s video upload, Musk tweeted to clarify that he hasn’t reached any official agreement with Carlson.

“On this platform, unlike the one-way street of broadcast, people are able to interact, critique and refute whatever he or anyone may say,” Musk tweeted. “I also want to be clear that we have not signed a deal of any kind.”

Since Fox fired Carlson on April 24 without offering a public explanation, its ratings in his old primetime slot have tumbled.
