Ryan and Annabel Koher, with their three children

US missionary pilot Ryan Koher is back in Mozambique where he and two South Africans spent four and a half months in prison after they were arrested in November 2022 on suspicion of supporting Islamist terrorists in the north of the country..

Ryan and his wife Annabel, together with their two boys Elias and Hezekiah and their daughter Abigail who was born in Idaho, USA on December 10 last year arrived back in Mozambique last Wednesday to get settled in their home in Nampula, northern Mozambique, before Ryan was due to return to work this week.

“Please continue to pray for Ryan and Annabel as they serve the people of Mozambique with a desire to see them come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior,” says Mission Aviation Fellowship in a press release. Ryan works for Mission Aviation Fellowship affiliate Ambassador Aviation Ltd (AAL) in Mozambique.

Ryan and South African missionary volunteers Eric Day and Willem du Plessis were released from prison on March 14 2023 but required to remain in Mozambique until late September that year. In October 2023 the Kohers moved to the United States, where in early October last year, Ryan received the news that after 2 years, the Mozambican authorities had finally dropped their case against him and terminated their investigation.

On receiving news that the case was over, Ryan said: “. “We’re really excited, and the main reason we’re excited is that this allows us to go back to Mozambique.”
