WATCH: ‘I was kidnapped by Boko Haram’ — Miriam’s story of daring escape

Miriam, right — kidnapping survivor

Originally published in Global Christian Relief

It was a seemingly normal Sunday when Miriam was kidnapped. She was returning home from church when terrorists surrounded her village; they kidnapped the pastor and his family along with Miriam and her two daughters.

At the terrorists’ camp, Miriam saw the brutality of the extremists firsthand — they killed anyone who refused their orders. “They said their holy book tells them to kill all [non-Muslims],” Miriam says. “They said that only those who believe the Quran will be able to see God.”

And then, much to Miriam’s shock, she was given to one of the men as his wife. She was so horrified she fainted.
