Watch & Pray — Special Report by Angus Buchan

A monthly column by farmer, preacher and writer for Jesus, Angus Buchan

Mark 14:38 (NKJV), Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

The Chief Justice of the South African Supreme Court, his Godly wife, and son just left our home after spending a full weekend with us at Shalom Farm. We have been praying and spending time together in the presence of God.

God is on the move in South Africa and there are many men in this country, who are holding top positions and who love Jesus Christ unashamedly. The Chief Justice, Mogoeng Mogoeng is one of those men. We need to pray for the leaders of our nation and you might ask, why? Because Jesus said so! As we prepare for the biggest “It’s Time” event thus far, I believe God is calling on all hands to be available. “Do not miss this opportunity!”

Just a mere few weeks away we will be meeting in Tshwane, Pretoria, as a nation; black-and-white, old and young, male and female. We will be seeking the face of God and repenting of all of our sins. We have seen by experience that God will change the nation, as He did in Bloemfontein and again in Cape Town, when He brought the rain. It’s still raining in Cape Town and it is the first real rain fall in three years, and yet there will still be those who will doubt, but we won’t.

The only time that Jesus Christ got angry with His disciples was when they did not believe. We recount the story of the young boy, who was possessed by an evil spirit. Jesus cast the evil spirit out and says in Mark 9:29 (NKJV), This kind cannot come out, except by prayer.

We need to be fasting and praying for our nation. I believe with all my heart that God will honour our prayers, if we sincerely obey Him, and of course we come back to the well-known scripture, 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV), if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. We need to rally as a nation.

This will be another national “It’s Time” event and it is not secluded for the Gauteng province only. One man has already told me that he is organising two trains to come up from Cape Town. We have already got the place, the field has been mowed, the grass bales have been removed, the sound system has been ordered, the roads are being ear marked and very soon we will be told exactly where it is going to be.

My dear friend, “watch and pray,” means to observe, to prepare one’s heart, to be attentive to God’s Holy Word, to take note of the situation around you, to spend time in prayer and to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. When we walk in the flesh we lose heart, because we look at things through the eyes of the world and all we see is doom and gloom, but when we operate in the Spirit of God, then we will see hope and miracles.

So, as you prepare yourself now for the greatest “Its Time” event that this nation has ever seen, please prepare your own heart because remember it is your prayers that are going to move the hand of God. It is not an evangelistic crusade, it is a prayer meeting, and every individual will have an opportunity to pray for our nation on their own and of course corporately.

God bless you
Angus Buchan
