A multinational women’s prayer movement that started online in 2020 as a response to a sense of isolation during the Covid pandemic is planning satellite launches in Pretoria on April 12 and in Cape Town on April 19.
“Our vision is to raise a generation of women empowered through prayer, equipping them to overcome life’s challenges with unwavering faith,” said Pastor Martha Mtuwana international coordinator of Women On A Mission Of Prayer which currently has over 420 participants from various countries, including Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, South Africa, Canada, and Ireland.
“By 2035, we aim to reach and transform the lives of over 10 000 women — strengthening them spiritually, physically, and mentally. We are committed to uplifting the brokenhearted, fostering a deep dependence on prayer, and supporting those in need. Through discipleship and leadership development, we will equip women to spread the Gospel across the world and live as shining examples of true Christian character in their families and communities,” said Martha, who is based in Ireland.

She said that as the group grew, it was decided to transition from online to in-person meetings. The ministry will officially launch with events in Pretoria on April 12 and in Cape Town on April 19. Prominent preachers, including Pastor Irene (Pretoria), Pastor Lorraine (Limpopo), Prophetess Ruth (Zambia), Pastor Martha (Ireland), Pastor Kuntamba (Cape Town), Mrs Phiri (Cape Town), and Apostle Diana Mponya will participate in the launches. The vision bearer and overseer of all groups is Pastor Tiphness Mwanyongo, originally from Malawi and now based in Cape Town.
“The next launches are planned for 2026 in Zambia and Malawi, God willing,” said Martha.
