Media Village Productions crew at the 48Hour Film Project awards evening.

Cape Town Christian production company Media Village competed against 22 other teams who entered the recent Cape Town 48 Hour Film Project. “We were given one weekend, a prescribed genre, a given prop, a line of dialogue and character to include in a short film. Over one crazy weekend we went from concept to final delivery of a 7 minute film in just 48 hours,” says Media Village in a media release.

Media Village productions drew the Romance genre, had to include a comb, the line of dialogue “Ag no man!” and the character of “Lunga Oiliphant, the conservationist”. To see how the film turned out, follow this link: Beacon of Hope.

Beacon of Hope received eight nominees: for best script, best cinematography, best directing, best use of prop, best sound design, audience award, best producer and best actor. Nominees were based on the top three teams in the selected category, out of 22 teams. Media Village won the award for Best Editing and Best Use of Music, for which they received a R20 000 voucher to spend on the Audio Network library.
