Around 80 000 people gathered at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas for a major Christian prayer event that drew a sell-out crowd to the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
The gathering, known as ACCESS — That Powerful Hour of Prayer and held last Saturday, was organised by Atlanta-based 2819 Church, led by pastor Philip Anthony Mitchell. All 80,000 free tickets were reportedly claimed within eight hours of their release.
Rather than centring on a traditional church service or celebrity-led concert, the event was designed around a collective hour of prayer, with participants joining together to seek God and pray for spiritual renewal.
The event’s programme was organised around three themes: The Cross, The Warning and The Cry.
The Cross focused on the Christian message of salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Warning emphasised the biblical call to repentance, while The Cry invited attendees to unite in prayer, expressing their longing for Christ’s return.
The gathering concluded with the prayerful declaration “Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!” reflecting the event’s emphasis on Christian hope and expectation.
The stadium’s official event description presented ACCESS as an opportunity for believers to proclaim the Gospel, respond to the call to repentance and pray together in unity.
The turnout marks a significant moment for 2819 Church, which has experienced substantial growth since adopting its current name in January 2023.
The name references Matthew 28:19, in which Jesus commissions his followers to make disciples of all nations.
The gathering also encouraged Christians outside Texas to participate in prayer during the same hour, extending the event’s focus beyond those physically present.
For many attendees, the significance of ACCESS lay not simply in the size of the crowd but in the opportunity to join thousands of other believers in a shared expression of faith.
In January, My Christian Daily reported that 2819 Church has emerged as one of America’s fastest-growing congregations, drawing thousands of mainly young worshippers each weekend.
