Gateway News questions veteran pastor Graham Gernetsky about his book, How To Get The Hell Out Of Your Church

1. Tell us a little about yourself

I previously qualified in medical technology but I have been in pastoral ministry for the past 53 years. I focused on leadership, discipleship training, teaching, and counselling. I am from the Eastern Cape but currently reside in Hermanus, WP, South Africa.

2. What inspired you to write this book?

Having done my thesis on demonology, and over the years of ministry having observed some (naturally) inexplicable trends and issues in many local churches, I concluded that further investigation was needed to identify the causes of the conflicts and destructive outcomes many Christian leaders and God’s people experienced. I felt that there was a great need to address the reality of sinister and evil spiritual forces at work within some churches. I set out to provide helpful, biblically-based instructions on how to deal with them. My main goal is to bring help and healing to any who has suffered from the effects of spiritual warfare.

3. What is your book about?

My book is about uncovering the covert operations of the devil, revealing how he exploits our flaws and failures to bring hurt and harm to many of God’s people. I seek to provide very practical biblical ways to bring back into local churches what God intended them to enjoy in their gatherings.

4. Who should read the book?

Every Christian, but especially those who have become disillusioned with “Church“; those who have been “hurt by the Church”, and leaders, who are struggling to make sense of any chronic conflict and struggles they have within their churches.
