Cape Town event aims to help Christians align with God’s perspective after October 7

The devastating Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 has put a spotlight on both Israel and South Africa and raised questions on how Christians should respond, say the organisers of an event in Cape Town on Saturday May 18.

All Christians are invited to attend the event at Church on the Rise, Blouberg Rise from 9.30am to 2pm.

The strong response by the South African government to the conflict in Gaza, together with many voices speaking on the matter, make it difficult for Christians to navigate the issues, say the event organisers. They say that according to recent surveys, social media and other influences often have more impact than Scripture, when it comes to forming opionions on the Middle East conflict and a response to Israel and the Jewish people.

They say the key question that every Christian needs to answer is: is there a biblical mandate and call to respond to Israel and the Jewish people in a specific way? For if there is, that certainly must be the foundation of our decisionmaking and actions.

Mariette Jacobs, will speak at the event about hearing God’s call among many voices. She will unpack key Scripture passages that point to important principles in gaining perspective and hearing God’s call. The story of Abigail and David is also explored to highlight key actions that Christians can take during this time to respond to the Middle East conflict and the season South Africa finds itself in. The session ends with a joyful discovery that when we remain within the clear framework of Scripture, we can bring God’s light and truth with great momentum, not only to the Jewish people, but also to all gentile nations, including South Africa.

Manfred Nochomowitz, a Messianic believer with Emet Ministries in Pretoria, will teach on “Watchmen and Israel’s future”.

Biblical artist Leigh Telli  (www.messiahart.co.zawill exhibit three of her latest paintings and share on how they represent God’s prophetic timeline for Israel.
