Christians launch declaration calling on SA government to improve relations with Israel

Pastor Tshepo Mosala of Kingdom Of Hope Ministries was one of hundreds of Christians who attended a prayer rally outside the Israeli Embassy in Pretoria this morning. The Tshwane-Jerusalem Declaration, which calls for improved relations between SA and Israel was launched at the rally which was organised by South African Friends of Israel

Hundreds of Christians gathered outside the Israeli Embassy in Pretoria today to launch the Tshwane-Jerusalem Declaration and to pray for the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) and its minister Naledi Pandor to support peace in the Middle East.

Members of the crowd, which included many pastors, proudly waved their Israeli and SA flags, danced and sang, as Messiah Boat Ministries kicked off the prayer vigil. Pastor Israel Molefe was the MC, supported by other pastors and bishops as they recited Psalm 122, Isaiah 62:1 and well-known Genesis 12:3, reports South African Friends of Israel (SAFI), who organised the event.

Organisations and ministries represented at the prayer gathering included PJTN (Proclaiming Justice to the Nations), AACUM (Active African Christians United Movement), and Healing the Nation, which represents hundreds of thousands of Christian members in support of the State of Israel.

SAFI general manager, Pamela Ngubane, along with SAFI spokesperson, Bafana Modise, highlighted the importance of mass prayer for South Africa to “turn away from its ruinous foreign policy that doesn’t serve the interests of peace or the South African people”. They said the South African government repeatedly endorses hostile statements against Israel, including peace and engagement efforts on the African continent. Now is the time for all to stand proud of the Holy Land, and all it has to offer South Africa, and South Africans, they said.

Following the speeches, the Tshwane-Jerusalem Declaration for harmonious relations between South Africa and Israel was launched.

Israeli Ambassador to South Africa, His Excellency, Eli Belotsercovksy, joined the event where he shared his message of acceptance, as he was handed the declaration.

The launching of the Tshwane-Jerusalem Declaration is the start of rolling prayer rallies around the country, said Pamela Ngubane. She said at least one major event will be held in every province and the campaign will culminate with a mass prayer rally in Johannesburg in November.

Pamela Ngubane, general manager of SAFI, left, at today’s prayer gathering.

In an interview with Gateway News she said the declaration launched today is the foundation for further relations between SAFI and the Christian community that supports Israel in order to create a unified voice.

“Many South African Christian support Israel, but they’re doing it alone in their own little silos. This declaration is the foundation of the creation of an umbrella movement, led by SAFI, which says: ‘All Christians of South Africa, let us unite and stand with Israel and tell our government that we will not accept a foreign policy that does not represent us, that does not represent the interests of the people of this country,” she said.

  1. Someone needs to send a true reort of the history of Israel, to the South African politicians that still talk about Israel “occupying” Arab lands that never existed. The ancient hatred of Ishamel and Esau and the promises that God made to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and a severe remoinder that God’s promises to Abraham included ” I will bless those that bless you and curse those that curse you” the most significant example of this is the way that Great Britain lost it’s Empire within a couple od decades of the way they gave away Israel mandated land to Syria, Transjordanian Arabs and refused to help Israel when multiple nations attacked Israel in 1948 when Israel declared their statehood. God will continue to curse our beloved South Africa with corrupt leaders if this lying rhetoric from South Africa continues. Our politicins know the truth that Palestine never existed yet they do not tell the truth. This must stop. To be blessed, bless Israel and stop supporting the lies and hateful resolutions of the evil UN.

Praise the Lord for this group of people who made a declaration of support for Israel. We continue to believe that SA will become Sheep nation who stands with Israel!

  3. Sadly, the Provincial Standing Committee, the top decision making body of the Anglican Church has issued a unanimously endorsed resolution laying all blame for the Palestinian issue on Israel while maintaining a deafening silence on Palestinian atrocities and Hamas terrorism. The Anglican Church needs to be called to account for its one-sided biased position based solely on a particular political world view parading as Christianity. It calls for all parishes to highlight the plight of Palestinians, perpetuating Palestinian victimhood while ignoring terrorism against Israelis. It calls on its parishes to highlight the founding of Israel as Nakba Day, i.e. Catastrophe day. So much for being peace makers.
