Christians to picket outside Parliament to call for constructive relations with Israel

Bafana Modise spokesperson of South African Friends of Israel

South Africa Friends of Israel (SAFI) invites Christians to join its picket outside Parliament in Cape Town from 12pm tomorrow to reaffirm support for Israel and push MPs to recognise Israel as a strategic partner for the development of South Africa and Africa, says SAFI spokesperson Bafana Modise.

The picket and prayer vigil follows a gathering attended by hundreds of Christians outside the Israeli Embassy in Pretoria on September 29 to launch the Tshwane-Jerusalem Declaration which calls on the government to end its longstanding hostile stance towards Israel and to normalise relations with the Jewish state

“The declaration has travelled to East London, Mpumalanga, Free state and North West signed by over 10 000 citizens.

“Israel remains a Biblical homeland for Christians who are 80% of South Africa’s citizenry. People of Hammanskraal and many other communities in South Africa have benefited from our close ties with the state of Israel,” says Modise.
