The Jesus 2022 Citywide Crusade in Nelson Mandela Bay last week has revived a culture of evangelism in the metro and outreaches will continue on a monthly basis, said campaign visionary Pastor Jimmy Davis.
“There’s a fire that’s burning in the hearts of the people and even after the crusade winded down I still keep getting reports from people about leading people to the Lord on the street, at the shops. And this is exactly what what we need because in the year to come we are going to focus on an ongoing outreach where we’re going to work on a monthly basis in the different areas,” he said.
He said the campaign has also sparked a citywide crusade which will be held in October next year in Centurion, Pretoria and they are planning to launch further crusades in North West and KwaZulu-Natal.
Davis said a standout feature of last week’s campaign was the unity among participants. About 100 local pastors and evangelists partnered over five days, exposing thousands of people to the Gospel, resulting in “hundreds of people coming to know the Lord Jesus Christ”.
“In Dispatch [one of the towns in the metro] almost 3 800 children were exposed to the Gospel as the schools were visited. In the retirement villages more than 900 people were exposed to the Gospel. I’m still waiting for all the feedback cards to come in but I can tell you that our goal to reach 10 000 people with the Gospel was very, very close.”
