New Eastern Province provincial team cricket coach Christo Esau talks about his faith, cricket in the Eastern Cape and Proteas cricket, in this interview with Kingfisher FM presenter Gareth Burley.
Earlier this month Eastern Province Cricket announced the appointment of Christo Esau as the coach for the EP provincial team. Christo took over the reigns from Piet Botha who was recently appointed as the Chevrolet Warriors coach.
Esau has been employed by EP Cricket since 2000 and has been coaching for over 10 years. He attended Astra Primary School, Bertram High School and Grey High School. In 2000 Christo received his National Diploma in Sports Administration from the PE Technikon. A keen cricketer himself he has played cricket at various levels including representing the Eastern Province B team in 2000/2001, but found his true calling in the coaching department. He has coached at various levels including the EP U15 and U19 team, EP Academy and also manages the EP High Performance Player Development Programme.
Esau was appointed as a talent scout for Cricket South Africa in 2006 and toured New Zealand with the SA U19 squad in 2010 as part of the management team.
