On Saturday January 11 Christian believers from different walks gathered at the FNB Stadium to pray and raise an altar for the upcoming National Day of Prayer and Repentance scheduled to take place on March 22.
What was meant to be just a handful of intercessors coming to pray at the stadium turned out to be a big prayer event at the FNB. This meeting was initially planned for the first week of the year but it had to be moved to the next week, on January 11, at the request of the stadium management. The revised date turned out to be exactly 70 Days before the National Day of Prayer in March.
“This is the doing of the Lord, it was not planned but clearly confirms that the Lord is leading us in this process,” said Rachel Kalidass the organiser of the event, who also celebrated her birthday on the day.
Apostle Linda Gobodo of Vuka Africa and the Healing the Nation of Africa from Cape to Cairo prayer network opened the prayer meeting and led the gathering in repentance for the sins of the nation before raising an altar to the Lord. She also shared a prophetic word given in 2008 after SA Africa won the bid to host the Soccer World Cup. “I was concerned at that time that our new democracy was going to spend so much money for the soccer games, but the Lord spoke to us that there is a revival coming and no building will be enough to contain people, hence He is allowing this infrastructure investment to prepare for the revival. These stadiums were built for revival, and it’s time for the Church to come together to fill them” said Gobodo.
This message was echoed by Apostle Hannes Wessels of Frontline City Church, who also confirmed this word, saying that indeed this is the time of the promised revival. He prayed for supernatural release of resources for this project, and declared that in the same way God has opened the heavens for rain in our nation, He will provide for this work.
Former Mayor of the City of Johannesburg Dr Mpho Phalatse also raised prayers for the city to receive this message of the Lord and make resources available for the event to take place because the city needs prayer.
Pastor Karabo Molefe, the son of the revivalist from Sharpeville Dr PF Molefe who God used mightily in the revival that took place in Sharpeville 70 years ago was also at the meeting. He also confirmed that the time is now and called on those God has entrusted with resources to release them now.
