In defence of the family

Defending family, faith and freedom

As a result of live events on Faith Broadcasting Network, the “Watchmen on the Wall” feature on the chaotic Opening of Parliament will be broadcast on Sun 8 March at 7pm & Tues 10 March at 8pm.

Following the disturbing events that unfolded at Parliament on 12 Feb, I feel led by the Holy Spirit to encourage the Body of Christ in South Africa to unite in prayer and intercession for the nation.

In consultation with various Church leaders, we have set 7 hours aside on Saturday 21 March (Human Rights Day) from 10am–5pm for believers to pray & intercede in unity for SA. See video clip here.

On Tuesday 3 March, I will make an oral presentation to the Justice & Correctional Services Portfolio Committee in Parliament in regard to the decriminalisation of consensual sex between 12–16 year olds.

I will use the opportunity to urge government to do more to strengthen & protect families to support its critical role in nurturing & protecting children. Dysfunctional families produce dysfunctional children.

Children in SA live in a highly sexualised culture. Many are deliberately targeted by the liberal media & by porn merchants. As a result, teen pregnancies and child-on-child sexual abuse is on the rise in SA.

I will appeal to government to follow the lead of nations like the UK and Iceland by prohibiting access to pornography on the internet and in other media. The State is constitutionally bound to always act in the best interest of the child, even when that means limiting certain other adult freedoms.

“Watchmen on the Wall” will film FPI’s presentation to Parliament for broadcast at a later date.

As a result of the kind sponsorship of an international family organisation, Arlene and I are able to  represent SA at an international gathering of pro-family leaders in Europe. We depart for Europe on 4 March to attend this significant event that brings together the worlds top pro-family advocates.

Marriage and the natural family currently face unprecedented onslaught from global sexual rights activists. Despite the catastrophic consequences of redefining (undermining) marriage and the natural family – many in the Christian Church have still not convincingly rallied to its defence.

Family Policy Institute is a member of the “UN Family Rights Caucus”. This group fights tirelessly to defend, strengthen and protect marriage and the natural family at major global forums.

South Africa’s policy position on the family is critical for Africa. African nations face intense and unrelenting pressure from the Obama administration to submit to its radical sexual rights agenda.

Please remember me and Arlene in your prayers. We covet your prayers and financial partnership in this vital battle for the natural family and for the promotion of Biblical values in South Africa.
