KERRIE ROBERTS — TIME FOR THE SHOW

This week I have an announcement to make. . . This girl needs to be on radio!!! Ever heard of Kerrie Roberts? Well, today is your day.

With the release of her debut album, TIME FOR THE SHOW, we place this beautiful young minstrel under the spotlight as we together discover what this girl is all about. After a visit to her colourful website I would like to share some of the things that I read and found reflected in the music while I have been listening for the past week.

She is the daughter of a pastor and grew up in a home filled with music not only in church but also in their home, spending endless hours singing with her mom and sister. Her debut in church however happened at the age of five when she had to stand on a milk crate to be seen!

Kerrie shares “Little kids have dreams. For me, it was ‘I’m going to be a singer.’ And I never grew out of it.” The road for this talented young lady was not easy and today she testifies that this difficult journey has prepared her for where she is now. She kept on pursuing her dream of being and professional musician while teaching elementary school and working as an accountant. The giant leap of faith happened in 2008 when she moved to New York.

Being on this journey has provided for enough material to be used in this production as Kerrie joined her talents with the likes of David Garcia and Rob Graves, who also assisted her with the production of this album.

I was really able to identify with the honest lyrics, addressing so many of the things we face in everyday life. This is a brilliant combination of up beat rhythms, excellent vocal ability and a lot of soul. I would highly recommend this album for young and old alike. Take a listen and be inspired.

Until next time, let the worshipper in you arise!
