The Kouga municipality is hosting an interdenominational time of thanksgiving for rain at the Kouga Dam from 2pm to 4.30pm on Sunday October 29.

The dam, which is the largest water storage dam supplying the Kouga and Nelson Mandela Bay municipalities, began to overflow on September 29 after more than seven years of drought which resulted in the level dropping as low as 5%. According to the latest official data it was still overflowing on October 9 — at 100.9% full.

During the long and punishing drought the Kouga Dam was the venue for a number of prayer services to ask God for rain.
