No tolerance for Christian beliefs

Defending family, faith and freedom

Anti-Christian discrimination made the headlines both internationally and in South Africa. In the US, Dan Cathy, the Christian COO of the Chick-Fil-A chain of restaurants came under attack from homosexual activists and the liberal media for expressing his support for man-woman marriage.

Cathy warned of God’s judgement on America for its acceptance and legitimisation of same-sex “marriage.” His Biblical beliefs were vilified and mocked by homosexual activists and the media.

Remarkably, Dan Cathy’s beliefs are shared by the majority of Americans who support the Bible’s definition of marriage. Homosexual activists and their cheerleaders in the media preach tolerance but steadfastly refuse to tolerate any perspectives that differ from their own narrow views.

The vicious attacks on Cathy’s views – which incidentally are constitutionally protected – backfired when millions of Americans queued for hours at Chick-Fil-A restaurants across the US to demonstrate their support for Cathy and his first amendment rights to free speech.

Homosexual activists supported by the liberal media are attempting to silence any criticism of the homosexual lifestyle including the public support of the God-given institution of marriage.

They are increasingly resorting to intimidation to bully their opponents into submission.

In South Africa, the owners of Sha-mani guest lodge – a privately owned functions venue in Alberton – was fined and ordered by the Alberton Magistrates Court to allow homosexual couples the “right” to celebrate their “civil unions” at the venue in spite of the owners Christian beliefs.

Many Christian leaders warned that the legalisation of same-sex “marriage” in SA would lead to anti-Christian discrimination. Christian businesses are now forced to accommodate homosexuals despite their personal beliefs even though government promised this would never happen.

Hate Crimes legislation – that will in all probability include sexual orientation as a behaviour that deserves special protection – will further bolster homosexual activist’s attacks on Christian beliefs.

Once this legislation is enacted, homosexual activists will use it to force churches and Christian businesses to accommodate same-sex events that legitimise and celebrate their lifestyles.

I had a telephonic conference recently with representatives of the Alliance Defence Fund (ADF), the largest Christian lawyer’s organisation in the world. ADF defends Christian freedoms globally.

I am planning a conference for Christian lawyers in South Africa in which we hope to establish a local chapter of the ADF. Representatives of the international ADF have agreed to join us in SA.

The Body of Christ in South Africa cannot lie down and play dead when Christian Churches and businesses are forced to violate their conscience and deeply held Biblical beliefs.

We must stand together and formulate a strategy to defend faith, family and freedom. If you and I do not unite against this evil now – our future generations will suffer the consequences.

Please pray for me as we defend the family and Christian freedoms for the glory of God.
