Not buying narrative of Ramaphosa as principled leader resisting bully Trump — Errol Naidoo

President Cyril Ramaphosa and President Donald Trump

By Errol Naidoo

The leftist media appears to be reinventing President Cyril Ramaphosa as a principled and compassionate leader. Liberal media hacks have done a complete u-turn, choosing to ignore the fact that Ramaphosa simply repeats his empty promises in every State of the Nation Address (SONA) — most of which remain unkept because of ANC incompetence.

Despite representing the Government of National Unity (GNU) at SONA, Ramaphosa spoke primarily as ANC President, focusing his speech on ANC policies like BELA, NHI and land expropriation. He also defended the ANC’s stance on the Israel/Palestinian issue.

Ramaphosa said: “South Africans stand for peace and justice, for equality and solidarity. We stand for non-racialism and democracy, for tolerance and compassion. We stand for equal rights for women, for persons with disability and for members of the LGBTQI+ community. We stand for our shared humanity, not for the survival of the fittest.”

Many citizens may well stand for these values. But are these the values of Ramaphosa’s party? A Politicsweb summary of South Africa’s economic and social decline under ANC governance — especially in the Zuma years during which then Deputy President Ramaphosa stood idly by as Jacob Zuma gutted the nations democratic institutions — prove otherwise.

The ANC uses racist rhetoric, whenever it’s convenient, to advance its Marxist agenda. It distorts democratic principles to suit its objectives and does not tolerate views that contradict its ideology. The ANC has zero compassion for the poor. More than 8 million children suffer from malnutrition in South Africa because of rampant state corruption.

Ramaphosa proposed a R100 billion “Transformation Fund” to support black business initiatives. Most citizens fear most of this money will be embezzled by ANC cadres. Black economic empowerment policies have made a tiny group of politically connected individuals obscenely wealthy, while the vast majority of citizens languish in abject poverty.

President Ramaphosa failed to exercise the powers his office grants him to eradicate state corruption to protect the poor and the vulnerable. He refused to implement the R1 billion Zondo Commission Inquiry recommendations. Many ANC cadres implicated in massive tender fraud and theft still enjoy lucrative government posts sanctioned by Ramaphosa.

Contrast could not be more stark

The primary reason Ramaphosa is now being touted as a “compassionate and principled” leader is because of his apparent unflinching stance against the “threats and aggression” of Donald Trump. But the contrast between Ramaphosa and Trump cannot be more stark.

Donald Trump is currently reversing the left’s anti-life and anti-family policies in the US. Trump’s dismantling of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the exposure of its clandestine funding of the left’s radical abortion, DEI, LGBTQ and transgender agenda revealed a litany of corruption and abuse of taxpayers’ money.

A former USAID official explains “How the agency went woke and destroyed itself.” Successive leftist administrations manipulated USAID’s R922 billion( $50 billion) budget to promote its woke ideology across the world. Very little of this money was used for actual development.

Unlike Trump, Ramaphosa is a globalist stooge. His embrace of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Marxist socialist agenda is probably what inspired his elevated media status. But Ramaphosa and the ANC’s Marxist leanings were always evident. Their war against faith, family and freedom reveals an intent to supplant God with the socialist state.

Marxism theorises a government-run utopia in which the needs of each individual are always provided for. But Marxism has never worked anywhere. This bankrupt atheistic ideology is incompatible with biblical Christianity. Karl Marx said: “The first requisite of the happiness of the people is the abolition of religion.” The state, therefore, replaces God.

It is clear the ANC embraces this Marxist view. Almost 50% of SA’s population of 62 million are now 100% dependent on social grants. Instead of growing the economy and creating jobs, the ANC regime created a welfare state because it embraced the redistribution of wealth mantra – stealing from the productive to give to the unproductive.

The sheer stupidity of this ideology becomes apparent when one considers that less than 7.5 million personal income taxpayers collectively support 28 million welfare grant recipients. And the dependency on welfare – not the taxpayers – is growing every year. Incredibly, Ramaphosa celebrates the growing welfare dependency in his 2025 SONA.

Got Questions states: “A basic tenet of Marxism is the idea that private property must be abolished. Where Marxism has taken root, landowners see their property confiscated by the state.” It is no coincidence then, that the ANC/EFF/MK cabal pushed for Expropriation without Compensation legislation — because it validates legal theft of private property.

The nuclear family is the enemy of the Marxist state. Karl Marx’sq ‘Communist Manifesto’ called for the abolition of the family. He also said: “Communism would ensure that children would be educated by the state and not by their parents.” SA’s education policy of CSE bypasses parental authority to indoctrinate children in schools. The BELA Act extends state control of education.

The ANC’s gender-neutral Single Marriage Bill is designed to abolish the biblical view of marriage. The family is the building block of society and man-woman marriage its cornerstone. When the state redefines marriage, and by implication dismantles the family unit, it takes a sledgehammer to society’s most enduring foundational institutions.

ANC policy is not guided by the facts or common-sense. It is ideologically-driven even to the point of its own demise. Its allegiance to totalitarian regimes like China, Russia and Iran makes a mockery of Ramaphosa’s claim to stand for “peace, justice and equality.”

Collision course

Respected US conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation, urged the US government to cut foreign aid to South Africa. They meticulously outline the ANC’s foreign policy blunders that inevitably set it on a collision course with the Trump administration.

None of the controversial states the ANC aligns with promote peace, justice or equality. Ramaphosa refused to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine despite the hundreds of thousands killed in that war. Yet, he condemns Israel for defending itself against a horrific terrorist attack. The ANC backs Iran and its terrorist proxies, Hamas and Hezbollah. while posturing itself as a moral voice.

The delusional journalist, Rebecca Davis writes: “Ramaphosa staked out a set of national values which are worlds apart from those of the Trump administration. The President said: “We are witnessing the rise of nationalism and protectionism, the pursuit of narrow interests and the decline of common cause.” He continued: “We will not be bullied.”

Surprising bravado from a man presiding over a country drowning in debt, collapsing infrastructure and state-owned enterprises crippled as a direct result of his party’s narrow (self-enrichment) interest in the face of widespread poverty, joblessness and misery.

In response, Donald Trump signed an Executive Order (EO) on February 7, ending all financial aid and assistance to South Africa for its land grab policies and prosecution of Israel at the ICJ. Sanctions on ANC officials and further punitive actions are expected in future EOs. SA may also be ejected from the lucrative Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).

Corruption in Ramaphosa’s administration has skyrocketed as a result of his weak and feckless leadership. Crime is soaring because SAPS is riddled with incompetence and corruption. The NPA is underfunded and understaffed, resulting in the non-prosecution of thousands of serious crimes, including state graft. Ramaphosa has failed to rectify this.

Assault on biblical values

The ANC regime’s assault on biblical values, the natural family, parental authority and religious free speech is evident in the legislation it rammed through Parliament. Ramaphosa’s view of democracy is clearly not “government of the people by the people and for the people” but the top-down control of all aspects of life by the totalitarian state.

Ramaphosa is a staunch ally of UN agencies like the WHO, UNESCO, UNFPA and others. His government works to advance their agenda which include the Global Pandemic Treaty (he personally lobbied for its ratification), Comprehensive Sexuality Education,  legalised prostitution, the climate-change hoax, and radical abortion-on-demand policies.

The leftist media’s saintly makeover of Ramaphosa — in order to positively contrast him with the so-called “hateful right-wing bully” in the White House — exposes their hypocrisy. Ramaphosa’s presidency is a failure because he is terrified to make the tough decisions he knows will effectively end corruption and turn SA around for the good of all its people.

Over the past three decades, the ANC abused its majority to ram legislation through Parliament that destroyed life, diminished the family, promoted sexual perversion, eroded religious freedoms and wrecked the economy. It also misused its power to shield ANC cadres who looted the national treasury of untold billions — destabilising SA’s economy.

The good news is the ANC no longer holds the majority. It must negotiate all future policies with its Government of National Unity (GNU) partners. But the ANC’s inclination to use positions of power to loot taxpayers’ money will not wane. It must therefore be held accountable, perhaps by external pressure. Because all internal attempts failed miserably.

DA takes Expropriation Act to court

The second-largest partner in the GNU, the DA. filed a High Court application on February to nullify the Expropriation Act. The DA argues the Act is unconstitutional in its current form.

Ramaphosa must try to emulate his US counterpart, by putting the interest of his citizens first. He must focus his attention on fulfilling the promises he repeatedly made to the SA people without fear or favour. He must try to make SA great – if he has the courage to expose and uproot the thieving cadres within his ranks – for the sake of all South Africans.

Perhaps then, when he fulfils the true mandate of his presidency, the South African people, not the corrupt biased media will regard him as a compassionate and principled leader.

  1. Always a good read from Errol Naidoo. What many fail to mention is this – the USA is currently $36.2 trillion in debt. They can barely service that seemingly insurmountable figure, let alone pay it down. What happens when whoever they owe these vast sums to(China???) calls the debt in? The world’s economy will collapse. It is far more important for global stability that the US regains financial liquidity. Much more so than giving multi million dollar handouts to 3rd world despots. I believe last year they gave SA $440 million! The USA should not be giving one other country a single bean in aid. Squirrel has a real cheek to expect a cent from the US when SA does nothing but give the exceptionally generous yanks the middle finger.
