South African Friends of Israel (SAFI) is hosting a protest outside the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Houghton Estate, Johannesburg on Saturday morning (January 30) against the chairpersonship of Naledi Pandor.
“Under Pandor’s leadership, the NMF has been restructured to advance a narrow and radical ideological agenda that contrasts the values that Nelson Mandela embodied,” says SAFI in a media invitation to the event.
“The NMF has been used to attack Christian Zionism, alienating over 80% of South Africans who identify as Christian, and undermining Mandela’s legacy of inclusivity, reconciliation and respect for diverse beliefs,” says SAFI.

Organisation representatives expected to attend the protest include:
- Wayne Thring, Deputy President of the ACDP
- Tom Mofokeng, Leader of COPE
- Apostle Mponeng, representing the Jerusalem Prayer Network
- Apostle Nkambule, representing the Duduza Pastors Fraternal
- Dingaan Sithole, representing SA Church Defenders
The protest will take place at 107 Central Street, Houghton Estate, Johannesburg from 10am to 12pm on Friday.
