Key to success — Angus Buchan

In the Gospel of Matthew 6:33 the Bible tells us to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and then all these other things will be added unto us. Doing some research, I just realiSed that being a successful businessman is not a coincidence, no, it comes through walking hand in hand with Jesus.

In fact, it is quite contagious, quite catchy, Jesus is not a loser, He is a winner through and through. So, we need to walk with Him daily, talk with Him moment by moment, ask Him before we make quality decisions, imitate Him, ask yourself a question before you sign that contract, what would Jesus do and then you are bound to succeed in every aspect of your life and ambition.

Do you know that Cadbury Chocolate was started by a Christian man and its still going strong today? Do you know that Quaker Oats, the porridge oats that you eat in the morning, was started by a follower of Jesus Christ?

I want to tell you a story. I met with an old gentleman, he is 88 years young, and he told me about an incident that happened in his business. He was a very successful businessman, he is now a consultant, he’s an accountant by profession. He went to work the one day and he noticed at lunch time that people didn’t have time to go back home for lunch, so they bought a little packet of sandwiches with them and sat there and had a cup of tea for lunch.

So, the one day after work he went to a supermarket and he bought some meat patties, he bought some bread rolls, he bought some sliced cheese, he bought some onions, some lettuce, tomatoes and then he went and bought a box of ice cream, he also bought some potatoes to make chips and some cokes. He went home and told his family: “Tonight I am going to make supper.”

So, they all sat down, expectant, and he made some beautiful hamburgers, he served them ice creams, milkshakes, cokes, beautiful fresh crispy chips and when they had finished their sumptuous meal, he asked them: “Did you enjoy the meal?” “Yes, dad it was delicious.” He said: “Right,” and that was the start of the Wimpy fast-food franchise which has now taken over the whole of the Southern Hemisphere and Scandinavia.

Why, because that man loves Jesus Christ and he never does anything without first consulting the Lord. So Eric we look up to you, we love you, thank you for being one of my mentors. Amen.
