‘Support my letter to the President’ urges tireless Bela Bill opponent Marie Sukers

Former ACDP MP Marie Sukers is continuing her campaign against the controversial Bela Bill as a private citizen

Losing her seat in Parliament after the recent elections has not stopped feisty former ACDP MP Marie Sukers from continuing her fight against the Basic Education Laws Amendment (Bela) Bill which is currently awaiting President Cyril Ramaphosa’s signature.

The former member of the Portfolio Committee on Basic Education has written a letter to the President, urging him to refer the bill — which she and many South Africans believe is unconstitutional and undermines parents’ rights in education — back to the National Assembly for a proper public participation process.

In a message on the website of Voice to Parliament, an organisation she has started to fight for Christian democracy in SA, she says: “The ANC that then dominated the Portfolio Committee on Basic Education tried to silence me and when I could not be silenced they ignored me. We are now living in a new political reality, not only do we have Government of National Unity, that will hopefully listen before we need to waste money, that could go to helping children, on court cases. I, am also, no longer an MP and I need your voice to help me ensure the President takes note of why the BELA Bill is flawed. That he refuses to sign it into law and sends it back to the National Assembly to ensure proper public participation.”

Totally agree. Listen to the parents. We have a our kids an grandkids well being at heart yet the ANC only has there stakeholders decision on there minds. Definitely not heart. God has given me authority to be my child’s parent an if it was not t for the people to give the political leaders a vote they would not in power. Now they want to take our power as guardian of our kids away. Only God has that power not the ANC. As a Christian I stand for the right to choose the right to have my child’s well being at heart. May God be brought back into our schools. Thank you Mr President for hearing me

Mr President please don’t sign the Bela-Bill. It is going to destroy the morality of the society. Our society need God.
