The Lord is our peace — Angus Buchan

Hope

From all of us at Shalom Ministries, we want to wish our friends and supporters of Gateway a very, very happy and peaceful new year, we trust that 2024 will be a special year for each and every one of us.

One of my most favorite scriptures as a new believer was:

Isaiah 26:3-4 (NKJV)
You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
Trust in the Lord forever,
For in Yah, the Lord, is [
a]everlasting strength.

When we look at what is happening in the Middle East and indeed in Ukraine, Russia and yes indeed all over the world, with the state of immorality and total disregard for human life, we are reminded by the Lord that He will keep you and me in perfect peace if we keep our minds focused on Him.  We really need to put our complete trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

That is what I do every morning when I get up and have my quiet time at four o’clock, I focus in on the Lord first. If I don’t, the cares of this world become too overwhelming and overpowering.

We are getting so many reports and requests for prayer for people who are losing heart or giving up.  I really want to encourage you to chew on this Scripture, Isaiah 26:3-4, because the Lord says if we trust in Him, He is our everlasting strength, we have nothing else to be concerned about, and like never before we’ve got to put our faith into action.

It’s not enough just to say it verbally, we’ve actually got to live it and we’ve got to demonstrate it. The people in the world are desperate for the truth and they are desperate to know how and where and what they need to do. That is your responsibility and that is my responsibility.

So, as we embark on this new year which we believe is very exciting, but I would not tell you a lie and say it’s going to be a bed of roses, because quite clearly it is not. It was prophesied and Jesus even told us right at the beginning, He said in John 16:33 — “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you [a]will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Jesus bless you
Angus, Jill and the whole Shalom Team
